Germany confirms itself as a strategic market for the first Italian still white wine in terms of export volumes, ready to welcome the Consortium's projects linked to new consumer trends and sustainability: the introduction of Pinot Grigio with a low natural alcohol content and the use of Piwi.

Hall 15 Stand A64

Messe Düsseldorf, 16-18 March 2025

Also this year, the Consorzio DOC Delle Venezie is preparing to meet the specialized public of ProWein , the international reference fair for the world of wine that will be held from 16 to 18 March 2025 in Düsseldorf . Germany continues to be a strategic market for the denomination, confirming its third position on the podium of the main destination markets for Pinot Grigio DOC Delle Venezie.

As in the latest editions of the German event, the Consorzio DOC Delle Venezie will have a dedicated space in Pavilion 15, Stand A64 , where visitors, mostly industry professionals, will have the opportunity to taste numerous labels from member companies, distributed across an area that covers Veneto , Friuli Venezia Giulia and the Autonomous Province of Trento , for a total of approximately 27 thousand hectares of vineyards, and to learn more about the excellence of Pinot Grigio DOC Delle Venezie in all its facets, but also the peculiarities of a highly integrated production system, which unites three Italian regions in a model of winemaking excellence and interregional cooperation.

English: In terms of indicators, in 2024 the Consortium recorded an increase of +3% in bottled volume compared to 2023 and +8% in terms of certifications , for a total of approximately 230 million bottles that on the market are characterized by the State mark, as a guarantee of traceability and compliance with the requirements of the production specifications. A success accompanied by constant attention to the future and innovation, which is reflected in the projects - which will have to pass through a modification of the specifications - focused on new consumer trends and sustainability: a new typology with a low natural alcohol content (between 9 and 11 degrees) and the introduction of resistant vines , known as Piwi, for the production of Pinot Grigio DOC Delle Venezie. These are issues that respond to the renewed needs of the international consumer, more attentive to health and the environment, and therefore to a growing demand for the so-called NoLo wines (no and low alcohol), where Central and Northern Europe have long been trailblazers.

"We are working to create a typology that responds to the needs of a global and younger audience, increasingly attentive to issues related to health and conscious and responsible consumer choices. The Consortium continues to grow, pushing the accelerator of innovation and sustainability. ProWein represents an unmissable opportunity to highlight not only the quality of our Pinot Grigio, but also our commitment to the future of the sector", comments Albino Armani, President of the Consortium.

“Pinot Grigio DOC Delle Venezie is characterized by a moderate alcohol content, versatility and freshness, it is suitable for obtaining a naturally low-alcohol typology, obtained from an early harvest of the grapes and without further interventions in the cellar” said Stefano Sequino, Director of the DOC Delle Venezie Consortium who, referring to the introduction of resistant vines , adds “ Sustainability is at the center of our vision and in this sense the resistant varieties, already used to obtain IGT wines, represent a tool for responding to the challenges of viticulture and climate change, reducing costs and ensuring better management of the vineyard, to the benefit of the competitiveness of the interregional supply chain”.
