Transatlantic Relations: New Perspectives and Challenges

The European Parliament in Italy, in collaboration with the Center for American Studies and the European Parliament Office in Washington, has organized a debate on the state of EU-US relations with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani, MEPs, journalists and experts.

The initiative will provide an important opportunity to discuss the future of relations between the European Union and the United States two months after the inauguration of the new Trump administration. The debate will focus on crucial issues, such as defense and security, cooperation for stability and liberal democracies, international trade, as well as the digital and energy transitions.

The event will be attended by MEPs Salvatore De Meo , EPP-FI, President of the Delegation for relations with the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Fulvio Martusciello , EPP-FI, Brando Benifei , S&D-PD, President of the Delegation for relations with the USA, Susanna Ceccardi , PfE-Lega, and Carlo Fidanza , ECR-FdI.

Antonio Tajani , Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, will give a keynote speech from Rome. Also participating will be Stefan Pan , Deputy President of Confindustria, Maurizio Caprara , journalist for Corriere della Sera, Patricia Thomas , journalist for Associated Press, and Franco Pavoncello , President of John Cabot University . Paolo Messa , Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council's Europe Center, will be connecting from the United States.

The event will be moderated by RAI Director Antonio Di Bella , with opening greetings from Gianni De Gennaro , President of the Center for American Studies, Carlo Corazza , Director of the European Parliament in Italy and Shawn Crowley , Chargé d'affaires of the United States Embassy in Italy.
